March Madness

Saturday was the beginning of my downward spiral. I worked, got out early, and went back to work with gal pal #6 and guy pal #1. The night started out lovely and tame. A martini and a glass of pinot later I end up at the Court Tavern, a friend of a friends band is playing- Skyline Rodeo (I never saw them play that night). I barely make it into the door and I am greeted by so many friends (oh my) and long lost acquaintances. One hour later I am still by the doorway chattin' it up, playin' catch up, and scanning the room for the friends I came to meet up with. I felt like I was being so rude but I couldn't help it, a lot of these other friends deserved more than just a "hello". Anyway as I was scanning the room I caught the eye of an old fling (we'll call him strange guy #3) and that was IT the rudeness really came out, because I was glued to him the whole night. I was feelin' like a horn toad, but I fought the urge, like a good little girl. Good girl, whoof.

Booty text...

Strange guy #2 had the nerve to booty text me, ya know instead of a phone call, it's a text message. *^whre u at^, *^u out tonite^, and *^Im @ maritas come meet me^. I was already out so... off to Marita'a Cantina I go. Wednesday night is hip-hop night and this place in jam packed and sprinkled with sweaty thugs and hoochie mamas. I truly love hip-hop, but a "hip-hop night" can bring out some nuts. Although the crowd seemed out of control, it was tame, and the DJ played some hip-hop necessities (ya know a little Tribe, LL, DeLaSoul, L.New School, BDP, etc...) It was a complete pick up joint, now I can turn a few heads but this was ridiculous. I went to the rest room and three different sleazy guys tried to pick me up. I spotted strange guy #2 and his friend. Some girl was all up on him, when I finally worked my way through the crowd she was gone. I greeted strange guy #2 and his friend. We chitchatted and reminisced about when we met (a week and a half ago). Anyway its getting late, I must go home, his friend disappears so he has no ride home (how convenient). Twenty minutes later we find his friend, they drive me home, strange guy #2 orders his friend to circle around the block while he walks me to my house. We suck face for a little while and promise to call each other later... just like a nice couple should... right.

Cruel But True?

Tumulty's Pub - Wednesday Open Mic Night. I tried to make it again for guy pal #2's performance; it didn't happened. Work was so busy I didn't get out until 9:30pm, I missed "Lost" and "Alias" too -damn it! Anyway at Tummy's I again met up with gal pal #8, guy pal #2 ,and other friends. We chewed the fat and slurped on the beer -all the while listening to amateur tunes. This guy told us a story of how he just found out that he had a long lost sybling. Could you imagine growing up from 0 to 30 with lots of other syblings and then finding out there is one more, living across the state, almost twice your age, and married with kids... WEIRD right. Would you get in contact with that person??? I probably would, ...meet up, exchange numbers, and then NEVER call. Cruel but true... there is a mechanism within our minds that shuts off the possibility of gaining anymore family members (unless we're making babies or gaining cousins). We strive to move forward in life, to embrace a long lost family member (in our minds) would be moving backwards. No matter how hard we try to make it work, we will constantly remind ourselves that this person does not know you, there can only be this wierd kind of friendship, because you're not friends, you're family... right ...what! You can't tell them everything about yourself, but you feel you need to... to catch up... right ...what! Of course there are a few exceptions, but only a few.

#1 seed...

A year and a half ago if someone said, "#1 seed" I would have said, what?... pumpkin seeds. I am new to this whole being a fan of sports thing (okay, okay I am a born and raised Redskins (football) fan, but its different). When I am in to something I give it my all (okay, okay my most). Anyway I just got back from Villanova, PA- the Lady Knights put the crusher on Villanova (okay we were only up 3 in the half.. whatever) 51-39. There was so many Rutgers fans and we were rowdy, we were louder than their band, poor things, they didn't know what hit them. So now we are the #1 seed in the Big East tournament (first time ever top seed in Rutgers history) Good job girls!!!
