Cruel But True?
Tumulty's Pub - Wednesday Open Mic Night. I tried to make it again for guy pal #2's performance; it didn't happened. Work was so busy I didn't get out until 9:30pm, I missed "Lost" and "Alias" too -damn it! Anyway at Tummy's I again met up with gal pal #8, guy pal #2 ,and other friends. We chewed the fat and slurped on the beer -all the while listening to amateur tunes. This guy told us a story of how he just found out that he had a long lost sybling. Could you imagine growing up from 0 to 30 with lots of other syblings and then finding out there is one more, living across the state, almost twice your age, and married with kids... WEIRD right. Would you get in contact with that person??? I probably would, ...meet up, exchange numbers, and then NEVER call. Cruel but true... there is a mechanism within our minds that shuts off the possibility of gaining anymore family members (unless we're making babies or gaining cousins). We strive to move forward in life, to embrace a long lost family member (in our minds) would be moving backwards. No matter how hard we try to make it work, we will constantly remind ourselves that this person does not know you, there can only be this wierd kind of friendship, because you're not friends, you're family... right ...what! You can't tell them everything about yourself, but you feel you need to... to catch up... right ...what! Of course there are a few exceptions, but only a few.
